We have a big ol' room in our 1300 square foot apartment available anytime between Aug 1 and Sept 1 for long-term rental in Melrose, a super happening and accessible area of the South Bronx. This neighborhood is awesome, and breaks every stereotype you've ever heard.

The room is furnished with a full size mattress on wooden West Elm frame, features a lot of storage (the closet is suburban-sized), has an a/c to get you through the summer and has a north-facing window that lets in a ton of light and is warm and cozy during the winter. The super cool open kitchen attached to our spacious living room makes this a great place to chill in. Oh, and we have access to laundry in one of our neighboring buildings.

All utilities + wifi included at a total of $950 a month.

The neighborhood is wonderful, with a safe and short walk home from the train station along the 3rd avenue shops, bus stop and cab traffic. We're creative types who are hardworking and enjoy travel and spending time with our neighbors and friends (imagine that-- getting to know your neighbors in NY!!) Looking for one drug-free non-smoker with no pets who is laid back and friendly.

On the end of the block is an ALDI Market, which is the parent company of Trader Joe's and has great inexpensive organic foods. A couple of blocks down is a Planet Fitness and local gyms, laundry, pizza, a Wafels and Dinges truck, and more. Also just a few blocks away is the Bronx Documentary Center, an international gallery specializing in documentary film and photography.

The best part might be the train access. We're where the 2 and 5 express trains meet at 3av/149th St, so we have both West Side and East Side access. (15min to 59th/Lex, 20min to Union Sq, 25 to Times Sq, 30min to TriBeCa/FiDi). It's so incredibly convenient, let me profess. We friggin love it.

Easy access to Columbia University, NYFA, Parsons School of Design, Pratt Institute's Manhattan campus, SVA, FIT, NYU, Marymount Manhattan college, Fordham, John Jay, and more.
