Vibes and residents: Many long-lasting friendships have been formed behind these walls. We enjoy cooking meals together, morning yoga sessions, movie nights, and even the occasional Tahoe snowboarding trip We're very fortunate to have such a diverse group of people call our house a home. Some who've moved from as far away as Germany and Nepal to begin their careers here in the US. From musicians and medical students to college professors working on their first novel, there's no shortage of interesting trips, activities, and conversations to be had here at EK House :)

Located at the crest of a hill east of Lake Merritt, our home features rich landscaping, original Victorian-era finishings, and a unique charm all its own. You really must see the place in person to appreciate its size and beauty. There are 19 furnished bedrooms, 9 bathrooms, 4 dining rooms, 2 full kitchens, and 3 sets of washer/dryer units. All spaces (besides your bedroom of course!) are shared, including common areas, kitchens, and bathrooms. These shared spaces are also professionally cleaned twice a week at no extra cost to you. All standard bedrooms come with a desk and chair, clothing storage, and a queen-size bed. There are a few larger rooms that have king-size beds, walk-in closets, and even small couches or an extra bed.
Utilities and other costs: $100 - Cleaning and utilities
Pet policy: No pets allowed
Governance: Full house rules will be provided before move-in, but in general: - No smoking - Respect your housemates and neighbors - Clean up after yourself (dishes, laundry, etc) - General quiet hours after 10 pm weeknights, 11 pm weekends.
Resident requirements: We're looking for anyone who's excited about the idea of living in a large shared home and potentially making a ton of new friends in the process. We’re also looking for those who are also interested in a longer-term lease and really making this house into a cozy and inviting home. At least a 3-month stay would be preferable, but we’re willing to work with you if it seems like a really great fit. We may even be able to accommodate an entire floor rental for you and your friends with 5br, 2-bath, kitchen, laundry, and common area on the 3rd floor.
