THE DETAILS
Rent is $1365 plus utilities (PGE, EBMUD, trash/recycle, internet, house alarm, roughly $150). You would need to submit an application through our landlord ($30 app fee) and provide us with a $1,000 security deposit. Available Oct 1st. Pets/smoking are not allowed.
THE HOUSEHOLD
We are all currently working from home due to the pandemic. We are covid cautious and want our new housemate to be as well. We are three adults, one single and one couple.
Message from SM: I'm a CIS, white female. I'm an acupuncturist and will be doing telehealth (and some in-person treatments at the clinic soon). I'm learning a few instruments and enjoy singing. I've been keeping it to a minimum since we've all been trapped in the house together but occasionally break it out for practice, though I try to do so only when roomies are gone. But you may occasionally hear me singing or making music.
Message from M and T: We are an easy going couple that likes to spend time outdoors (including our backyard), exercising, cooking, and listening to Bob Marley and Diana Ross. One of us works as a grassroots manager for an advocacy organization and the other is a counselor. We embrace and value diversity. We enjoy engaging in the community, but have chosen to be especially selective about going out in public for the time being.
We expect reasonable cleanliness and tidiness. We're tidy and pick up after ourselves, we try to be patient with each other; the house is lived in after all. Eventually, when it is safe to do so, we hope to be able to have guests and be flexible with each other around this. We are parents of adult children who we would love to have visit us again someday.
THE HOUSE
All three bedrooms are on the second floor as well as one full bath. The bedroom that's available is roughly 10x12 and will be unfurnished (pics have current roommates things in them). It has windows on two sides (west and north facing). It has one closet. Downstairs there is a half bath adjacent to the laundry and guest room. We have a large living room and a medium sized kitchen (omnivorous cooking), and an adjacent dining area. There is an extra "bedroom" that we keep empty as an exercise/yoga/meditation room but serves to house guests when they come. If you are working from home and require space we can share it and come up with a schedule that suits everyone. There is a patio and a small garden space with a lemon tree and flowers in the back. The common areas are already furnished so there's not much room for new furniture. There is a cool, dry basement for storage.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Glenview is a sweet, but lesser known Oakland neighborhood. Nearby are restaurants/cafes, shops, a post office, bank etc. The Fruitvale BART is 2.8 miles away. Without traffic the Oakland airport is about 20 minutes away. We are a 5 minute walk to a bus stop and casual carpool (if that ever gets going again!)
If interested please email a bit about yourself and we can first set up a time to video chat. If we all feel it’s a good match we can set up a time for you to view the house (masks required).
