We are 3 people living in a beautiful stand-alone 4 bed, 2 bath house on Filbert St in West Oakland. Seeking 1 new housemate to move in March 1st, or prorated rent to move in earlier.

The house:
Two-floor Victorian in West Oakland. Multiple convenience stores, 3 parks, a library, and a rec facility within a few block radius. A mile from West Oakland, 12th St., & 19th St BART. Downstairs are 2 spacious common rooms with hardwood floors & tall ceilings, a medium-sized kitchen, full bath, washer and dryer. Upstairs are 4 bedrooms and another full bath. Medium-sized backyard with space for gardening. There is space in the basement for storage. We share wireless, electric, gas, and water (average $100-150/mo per person, higher in the winter). Street level single car garage is separate from the house and doesn’t currently have water or electricity. There are several steps from the street to the front door, so it's not wheelchair accessible.

The available room is on the southeast side of the house. The room is six sided with the dimensions of 12’5” x 11”x 8” x 7. It is $720.44/mo, and has 1 east-facing window and a small closet. The deposit for this room is $502.80.

BIOS

J (They/Them): I’m in my early 30s, white and middle eastern. I work in a bike education program focusing on social services and community outreach. I’m a high energy person, and enjoy a lot of exercise and socializing, as well as art and construction projects. I practice non violent communication theory and am politically leftist. I can be a bit brusque.

C (He/Him): 🤠 I’m in my early 40s, white, neurodivergent, witchy, cis, and mostly an introvert. I’m from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and have lived about half my life on the West coast. I work as a caregiver/CNA, mostly with folks with dementia. I love collaging, TTRPGs, playing guitar, singing, baking, and making esoteric playlists. Cancer Rising, Virgo Moon, Taurus Sun. Leftist.

L (They/Them): 40 years old, queer, non binary, white, musician. Works as an ABA therapist and assistant analyst (helping kids on the spectrum build life skills). Engaged by music creation, hiking, improv, biking, yoga, video games etc. Politically leftist.

Our house values include transparency, safety, and dignity. Our house culture is about being able to solve our problems calmly and carefully to ensure that everyone's opinions are respected. The current house culture also includes occasional drinking or recreational drugs. ca is fine in the house. Tobacco use is fine outside. Some of us cook meat regularly. We are also interested in collaborating with housemates in cooking, art, music, and dance. Our COVID values have developed in response to the pandemic. We have some important COVID protocol, including testing, vaccine booster(s), mask use around known un-vaxxed people, and hand washing.
