Quiet room and private bath in the Oakland Hills

We are looking for a fun, compassionate, creative, responsible housemate to join our beautiful home on May 1st who can commit to at least one year. The room is cozy and quiet and has its own attached full bathroom w/ bathtub, as well as a private side entrance. The room comes unfurnished.

The house is a Bay Area gem tucked up in the hills of Oakland and includes:

5 bathrooms
Large kitchen
Large living and dining space
Garage storage space
Gas fireplace
Central heating
Free in-unit laundry
Front patio and backyard w/ BBQ and ample gardening
Back deck with a view of both bridges

If you like hiking, there are several regional parks within a 5min drive from the house including Sibley Volcanic Preserve, Huckleberry, and Redwood Regional Park. Downtown Oakland is a 15min drivel, Walnut Creek is a 15min drive, downtown San Francisco is a 25 min drive away with no traffic and Bart is a 10min drive. It's an amazing place for anyone looking for a bit more nature, yet still wants to be close to the city.

**You need a car or electric vehicle to live up here, as the roads are steep and windy without sidewalks**

Our ideal roommate has:
- Great communication skills
- Experience living with others
- Good energy to contribute to the house
- Bonus points: a green thumb for our garden in the backyard or loves to bake :)

We share the kitchen and common spaces, have short monthly house meetings, and occasional house dinners or movie nights. Everyone has an assigned chore (or two) and manages one bill. We welcome house guests and occasional parties. Even though there are seven of us, the house always feels spacious and is usually fairly quiet. We are a busy bunch and mostly do our own thing, yet we are really looking for a roommate who contributes to the culture and community of the home.

A bit about us:
We are in our late 20’s to mid 30’s, and care about safe, affordable housing for everyone.

S - tattoo artist. Enjoys cooking with friends, hiking in the hills, and going to art exhibits
C - physical therapist and anatomy nerd. Will be found playing softball, picnicking in the sun, and watching every possible sunset from the balcony
S - computer programmer, rock climbs, reads books, drinks tea, in love with the ocean
M - works in psychedelic research and drug policy reform. Philosophy, creative movement, poetry, and bad jokes
E - a painter who loves to hike, bake, and make elaborate soups! Always down for a Kiki in the kitchen <3
M - neuroscientist at UCB, from italy. Loves his motorbike, reading a book by the fire, cooking together, coffee, backpacking. Half-decent snowboarder, terrible surfer.

Rent $844/mo (including PGE) plus other utilities and house cleaners which is about $150/per month
