Seeking 3rd Housemate in Queer/POC-Centric Home

2 windows, decent closet and hardwood floors, pre-move-in

Room opening up in November ? $850/month (+ utilities around $50-70 a month for pge/wifi; water+trash is included) in 3bd/1ba upper duplex Victorian close to downtown Oakland. The room is decently sized (roughly 8x14) with a modest closet, high ceilings, hardwood flooring and has two large windows that bring in plenty of natural light.

We are about 13 steps up from the ground floor, and the landlord lives downstairs ? an intergenerational Chinese family. They generally leave us alone and are fairly responsive if we need something fixed on the fly. Neighbors are mostly POC and Black folks. Priority goes to queer/trans* BIPOC disabled folx.

LAUNDRY: There?s no washer/dryer hookup but one of the housemates owns a portable washer that hooks to the kitchen sink and a standing air-dryer that are both free for everyone to use.

PETS: Two cats already live here so any other pets will need to stay in your room or live in a tank.

YOUR HOUSEMATES:

E: 29, east asian, agender. Writer of screenplays, currently on unemployment, but may be going back to a distanced office gig in November. Likes discussing television and traveling in non-pandemic times.

M: 29, white, disabled queer/transmasc person that works from home full-time as a QA engineer. Into video games, cooking/baking, writing, and having friends over for movie nights in non-pandemic times.

We?re not necessarily looking for a communal household but it is essential that we can communicate effectively around house needs, especially. You should take COVID concerns seriously, and can be honest and transparent regarding COVID safety practices. We are not having outside guests over until further notice.

Some of us have chemical sensitivities so please no sprays, perfumes, incense or essential oils. 420 is ok, but cigarettes must be outdoors. Even burning incense inside the room will filter out to the common space.
