32F looking for ~$1200 Room in Brooklyn

Hi there! I recently accepted a job in the publishing industry in Manhattan that starts Nov 2. I'm planning to come to NYC and view apartments Oct 20-31 and would ideally like to find something and move in before my job starts.

I'm looking for something close to Manhattan like Brooklyn (Bed-Stuy, Downtown Brooklyn, Bushwick, Prospect Heights, etc.) or Queens (Astoria, Sunnyside Gardens). My budget is ideally around $1200. Cheaper would also be great, and I'd be willing to go up to the $1400s if guarantors are accepted.

A bit about me: I'm 32F and taught English in Japan for 10 years before coming back to the States to finish my MFA in creative writing. I love cozy cafes and exploring new places. In my free time, I enjoy reading, crochet, painting, playing video games and watching D&D internet shows. My work will be hybrid, so I'll be working at home up to 3 days a week. I like going out to eat or write at cafes after work and on my days off, so I will often be out in the afternoons. I don't smoke, love animals, and am very mindful of picking up after myself in shared spaces.
