Australian Mum & Daughter – NYC Sublet Sept-Oct

Hello!

My 13-year-old daughter and I are travelling from Queensland, Australia, to New York City for approximately 8 nights, from 20–28 September, and we are looking for a furnished private room or short-term sublet in a safe, friendly neighbourhood where locals live. Staying longer for the right place is an option also i. e. 18 September -6 October.

We are hoping for a more authentic NYC experience rather than staying in a hotel, so we'd love to find somewhere that feels like a genuine home and neighbourhood. We are open to Manhattan or Brooklyn, particularly the Upper West Side, Upper East Side/Yorkville, Greenwich Village/SoHo, Chelsea, Tribeca/Financial District, Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill or Park Slope.

I’m a postgraduate-educated professional working in the pharmaceutical industry and also a registered teacher in Queensland, Australia. Both industries are highly regulated and involve strict background, compliance and suitability checks. I have worked professionally for many years and am happy to provide references. I enjoy travel, the arts, dining, Pilates, culture, reading and spending time with loved ones.

My daughter, Francesca, is 13 and was school captain at her primary school. She enjoys dance, debating and drama and is a mature, friendly and respectful teenager.

We live in Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast, Queensland, with our 3-year-old Golden Retriever, Freya, who will of course be staying at home while we travel. We are very excited to visit NYC and experience the city beyond the usual tourist areas.

We are worldly, clean, quiet, respectful and considerate and will be out exploring museums, parks and the city most of the day, so we just need somewhere peaceful to unwind in the evenings. We are simply looking for a comfortable, safe and peaceful place to come home to.

We are looking for one furnished private room for the two of us and are very happy to share one double or queen-size bed. A private bathroom would be preferred, but we are open to sharing a bathroom with the right household.

We can provide references and any other information you may require. We would love to hear from someone who has a suitable short-term room or sublet available.
