Hi Portland people,

I’m exploring the idea of forming a shared house with 2 to 4 compatible housemates, ideally in a larger, comfortable home with enough space for privacy, ease, good kitchen conversation, and the occasional houseplant that appears to be quietly judging us.

A bit about me: I’m a data scientist by trade, so I spend a lot of time thinking about patterns, systems, and how small changes can make things work better. But I also deeply value personal connection, warmth, and the very human parts of life that refuse to fit neatly into a spreadsheet.

I’m physically active and love getting outside, but I also invest a lot of time and energy into work that I genuinely care about. I’m drawn to interesting ideas, thoughtful people, good questions, and the kind of conversations that wander somewhere unexpected without needing to become a three-hour symposium in the kitchen.

I value healthy relationships, emotional maturity, direct communication, and a home that feels calm, warm, and well cared for. I’m social, but I’m not looking for a house where we all need to become a roaming pack of golden retrievers. Friendly, connected, and respectful of personal space is the sweet spot.

Location-wise, I’m looking for close-in Portland, Eastside or Westside, though I’m biased toward the Eastside. I’d love to be near easy access to a park, trail, or somewhere I can quickly get outside and remember I am a mammal with legs.

My budget is up to about $1,700/month including rent and utilities, depending on the house and setup.

One thing I’ve learned from past shared living situations is that a short weekly or every-other-week house check-in can make a big difference. Nothing intense or overly formal, just a regular touchpoint to talk through house tasks, shared chores, bills, maintenance, upcoming guests, and anything that needs attention before it becomes a tiny domestic volcano. I value some connection and open communication, but I’m not looking for a high-commitment intentional community, required shared activities, or a house constitution written on reclaimed butcher paper.

Ideal housemates would be:

* Financially stable and responsible
* Clean and considerate, without needing the house to feel like a museum
* Communicative and emotionally mature
* Respectful of quiet time, shared spaces, and different schedules
* Friendly, curious, self-aware, and a little unconventional in the good Portland way
* Interested in a home that has some connection and warmth, but does not require constant group activities
* Open to creating clear agreements around rent, chores, guests, utilities, conflict, and move-out expectations before signing anything

I’m hoping to find people who are kind, grounded, thoughtful, and maybe a little odd around the edges. Eccentricity is welcome. Main-character chaos is not.

I’m still in the exploration stage and would prefer to find compatible people first, then look at houses together rather than sign a lease and hope the universe sends roommates via raven.

If this sounds aligned, feel free to message me with a bit about yourself, your ideal neighborhood, budget, timing, work-from-home needs, pets if any, and what makes a shared house work well for you.
