Hey, I'm David, a software engineer who works downtown and commutes everywhere by bike, looking for reasonably priced accomodation within 20 minutes bike of downtown. I'm not looking for too much because I tend to spend most of my time out (either working, exploring, hiking, biking, etc), mostly just a place where I can store my bike, cook, play some video games, and do my laundry. Have almost always had roommates, personally prefer that even without considering the cost because it just feels more home-y, and I've never had a particularly bad experience with it.
