I am from a small town in northern michigan (just outside of Traverse City). I came down here out of the blue to see what life is like in a larger city area. I have worked in kitchens for about 16 years, and i had figured that there would be a lot of opportunities for work here. I've been down here for a week and I havent been able to find a place to stay in order to take a job. Once I can find a place to stay I am planning on finding a full time position that offers overtime hours during the busy season, but I'm also open to working a second job to help get myself ahead. I am new to the area and I don't know anyone around here, but i figured that if someone was in a similar position I am in, I would be greatful to room with someone new for the opportunity to experience living in the area. I'm pretty simple in general and prefer a more subtle living situation to come home to after a day at work. I don't watch a lot of tv or movies but i do enjoy playing table games, board games, cards, dice, magic the gathering, (i havent played much dnd but i would enjoy to learn if you happend to play) but all around, I'm tight on funds at the moment but if I could find a place to live I'm confident i could start getting ahead again in 2 months. I've worked a lot of line cook positions, and have done some kitchen management and worked as a sous, as well as working in dietary in a nursing home, so im flexible in finding work, and open to 2 jobs if need be. Its getting close to the busy season and ive seen a lot of places hiring, so finding employment isnt something im worried about. I don't want to put too much on here but if you are in a similar situation yourself or have an extra room and are looking for a hand, I'm flexible with living situation, I don't need anything large or extravagent and even a smaller room for now would be great. If this seems like something that could work out for you, reach out, I'm more than happy to work something out with the right person/people. Also like I mentioned I'm tight on cash at the moment but once i can get established somewhere I'm sure i'd be able to manage 1500-1800 for rent/utilities.
