Easygoing Professional looking for a good fit
Hi! I’m Bob. I run a one-person economic research business I started in January of this year. Solo operation, so I work from home most days, but I’m not glued to my desk and definitely not a recluse. I’ve been on a few podcasts and apparently sounded smart enough to get invited back, with a few more on the calendar over the coming weeks.
I first moved to the city my intern summer of 2014, then full time the next year, and I’ve spent most of the last decade across a variety of neighborhoods in Manhattan and Queens. Grew up in Maryland just outside DC, went to school in Providence (Go Friars), family in Brooklyn and Boston.
Big sports fan (Go G-Men) and former college athlete, but nagging injuries have caught up with me, so it’s mostly long walks exploring the city these days. I love stepping out without a plan and seeing where I end up. Ideally that’s a good dive bar where I can grab some food, rehydrate, and make some new friends along the way.
Two sisters, close friends and family in the city, a good social life. I’ve been told I could “talk to a wall and make friends with it,” though I’m admittedly partial to other humans. Would be great to add a new friend to the list, but it’s not a requirement. If you prefer to keep to yourself, I respect that completely.
Currently staying with my older sister while I figure out my next move. I’m a pretty open book, so in the spirit of transparency: an unplanned detour had me step back from work and away from the city for a bit. I’m ready to find my own space and focus on growing the business and figuring out the rest along the way.
About my work
One-person economic research and macro advisory firm helping market participants and business owners navigate the economic landscape.
Room requirements
A real workspace for my desk setup is the main thing. Natural light is a plus, not a must. Open to a private room in a shared place or a small studio of my own, depending on neighborhood and fit.
Must-haves and deal-breakers
- Neighborhood: downtown Manhattan, or west/northwest Brooklyn with an easy subway or ferry ride into the city
- Budget: around [$X/month]
- Move-in: anytime from May 24th, with about 3 days notice
- Building a brand new business and rebuilding my life in general, so I’m busy, but also a big fan of a fun night out, especially if a dive bar is involved
Happy to grab coffee and chat. Tell me a bit about you and what you’re looking for in a roommate.
Excited to hear from you,
Bob
