ROOMATE(S) WANTED

Hello! My name is Joseph, but I usually go by Joey. I’m 26 years old. I’ve just moved to Chicago from the San Francisco Bay Area to get a fresh start and be closer to family. I am currently making a video game and plan to apply to grad school here in Chicago. I am looking for roommate, around my age (from 23-32), with no gender preference. I am LGBTQ+ friendly, and my budget is around $1200-$1500 a month. I would ideally like to live in Wicker Park, but can definitely be flexible for a good deal. I would like to find a roommate before I sign a lease anywhere, but if someone already has a lease and needs a roommate, I don’t mind either.

As a person, I would describe myself as easy-going and nerdy. I have a passion for many “nerd” hobbies like video games (obviously), Dungeons and Dragons, and fantasy literature, as well as for history and classic novels and plays and such (my bachelor’s degree was (basically) in Classics). I have two 5 year old cats: sisters named Meezie and Sappho, who I love very much. They love meeting new people, but they are not the biggest fans of other cats, but have gotten along with dogs in the past. Since I am taking online classes and working on a video game, I will probably be home a decent amount, although I also like to get outside (fishing, bird watching, and rollerblading are some of my favorite outdoor activities).

In terms of being a roommate, I am not a super particular person, but I also believe in treated shared spaces with a baseline of respect. To me, that means that in terms of cleanliness, I’m not going to freak out over a couple dishes left in the sink, or a cluttered countertop, or clothes left in the laundry for a few hours. But I do try to not leave trash out, and tidy things up every 2-3 days, as well as always keep things clean for visitors. I’m not super sensitive to noise, and I can always put my headphones in if need be.

Above all, I am less concerned with all the little details and more concerned with finding someone who, like me, is messy-but-not-too-messy, and is willing to talk through any conflicts that might arise. Please message me if interested!
