Seeking Private Room for May 1st or earlier

I’m a research assistant & doctoral candidate at Columbia University, currently teaching and working on a dissertation in archaeology and art history. I’m looking for a room to rent starting either late April or early May. There’s some flexibility on the move-in date, cost, and length of the lease. My priority is finding a space and roommate(s) that fit well with my work/life balance, personality, and living style.

Here's some more info about me and what I'm looking for in a rental…

About Me: grad student, bookworm, theatre nerd, bookworm, 70% extrovert / 30% introvert, non-smoker, vegan diet
Interests: art museums, musical theatre, trying new cocktail recipes, classic films and documentaries, non-academic reading (genres: mystery, fantasy, adventure), yoga, tango, trivia nights, picnics in the park, movie nights, cooking for friends, and petting all dogs big and small.

Work Schedule: Some days and evenings I work from the library or teach on campus in Manhattan The rest of the time I work from home (writing my dissertation and studying at my desk), so it's not much of a disturbance to the household. At least once a month I'll travel out of the city for a long weekend.

Ideal Rental:
- private room w/ closet & space for a full or queen bed, desk/chair to work, & ideally a small bookcase (in room or common area)
- near the L train
- laundry in unit or in bldg
- clean & organized common areas, hopefully with natural light
- peaceful, homey, and welcoming environment

Ideal Roommate(s):
- friendly / social, but able to give privacy and space as needed
- clean & organized
- communicative
- interested in co-maintaining a homey environment
- has stable income/profession
- non-smoker
- doesn’t throw tons of late-night parties or have constant overnight guests
- lgbtq+ friendly
- preference for late 20s or older, w/previous experience living with roommates
- preference for vegetarian/vegan
