Spacious Furnished Room Astoria

OVERVIEW:

Spacious and sun-filled private bedroom in 2-bedroom prewar apartment. Centrally
located in vibrant Astoria Queens, amidst shopping, restaurants, museums and all amenities, 3 blocks from the “N” and “Q” trains and a 15-minute train ride to mid-town Manhattan.

THE ROOM

The bedroom features one recessed closet, hardwood floors, a high ceiling, and two light-flooded windows. Approx. 10.5’ x 15’, it is large enough to accommodate a sleeping/ living set-up. It is currently furnished with a full-sized bed with storage drawers, armoire, bookshelf, a table, study lamp and air conditioner.

We are a middle-aged (but not boring) activist/academic couple (husband is a co-
founder of an award-winning South-Asian labor organization; wife a teaches at a SUNY in upstate NY). Most of the time you would be sharing the apartment with only one person – and as he works late most nights, you would often have the place to yourself in early evening. However, the partner comes to stay in our NYC apartment periodically and more frequently over the summer. During these times we may be using the space to cook and/or hangout. However, you also have your own table in your room, and there is one as well in the kitchen for you to use any time, so it’s very workable. We are open and friendly and would hope to share a glass of wine or cup of coffee/tea and a good chat from time to time.

THE RENT

$995.00 mth. The room is for one occupancy. Includes utilities and wi-fi as well as laundry in the basement. One month rent/security and references required.

THE ROOM-MATE WE NEED:
Female or male adult, respectful and considerate, responsible about shared domestic chores and the use of others’ property. Serious and quiet. Non-smoking.

Available for 6 months, possibly longer

This situation would probably work best as a transitional residence for a graduate student or relocated professional. We are fully vaccinated, careful and request proof of COVID vaccination and booster and careful behavior to minimize exposure to COVID.
