Outside our front door

We are three guys looking to sublease our soon-empty room to a fourth housemate. You must be a young professional between the ages of 25 and 40 who cleans up after themselves, is respectful of the shared living areas and storage spaces, and has a job. We are not clean freaks, but we do expect housemates to clean up their dishes in the sink, keep the shared living areas free of dirty dishes and garbage, and keep intimate items (such as dirty laundry) out of the shared storage spaces. We prefer a person who does not do drugs.

Finally, you must also be able to communicate what you need. No passive-aggressive mumbo jumbo, please!

Now, about us.

We are a quiet bunch who're friendly but very busy, and we all like our personal space. I am a writer, teacher, and tutor, and my partner is a music professor and teacher. We share the master bedroom and bathroom on the second floor. Across the small hall, our housemate, a lawyer, lives in the second bedroom. Next to his is the third bedroom up for rent. Both of you would share a bathroom just outside your bedrooms. Your room has two windows and a double closet for hanging clothes.

We are offering a three-month lease, beginning December 1, as a trial period to see if we are all happy living together. After the three-months, it can be extended from a period of three or six months, or one year.

Rent is $1200, and that includes all utilities (gas / electric / water), a housekeeper who comes once a month, cable/internet, and shared use of the storage spaces and living areas. Shared use of the apartment complex's pool, sauna, gym (treadmill and elliptical), and recreation room (pool and card table) is included, too. First month?s rent and a $500 security deposit is due at signing.

Our apartment is within walking distance of two parks and a bus stop, and very close to downtown Santa Clara, Santa Clara University, Westfield Valley Fair Mall, Target, three Safeway Grocery Stores, and Santana Row. All of these places can be biked to in less than ten minutes. Downtown San Jose can be biked to in about twenty minutes. This location is great.

Your bathroom has newly redone flooring and plumbing, including a new sink faucet. We have small storage inside the house, in the hallway outside the bedrooms, for you to use. We also have a large, secondary storage space by the parking under the apartment, and it has enough room for four or five big boxes, a dresser, and a bike. On the first floor, the living room is big and furnished, the dining room is normal-sized and furnished, both have high ceilings, and the kitchen is fully stocked. All these rooms are on the first floor, which is very open and has a half-bathroom. We also have a gated, cement patio, by the living room. You would be welcome to use all of the shared living areas, the patio, the TV in the living room, the .5 bath, and most of the stuff in the kitchen. (Not the food...)

Our landlord is typically fast to fix problems. Because you would be subleasing, you would have to ask us to contact the landlord. Laundry is just a short walk beyond the pool, but it does cost money. You would need to park on the street, but there are always spots out front. (Our apartment is one of the first ones in the complex, so your spot would still be really close to home).
