Hi! Want to live super close to Stanford and get free pet therapy? We'd love to have you!
We have one bedroom with a shared bathroom available in a 3bd/2ba apartment + yard in the University South neighborhood of Palo Alto. We are in a small building with no shared hallways/elevators (COVID-safe). There is ample street parking (with downtown PA permit) in the area and we are super close to University Avenue for dining/shopping. Walking/biking distance to multiple parks, grocery stores (Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Safeway), Caltrain/the Marguerite Shuttle/bus depot/edge of Stanford's campus.
The Room: $1575/month, ~13ftx10ft with a built-in closet and two windows. We may be able to furnish it (bed/desk) if needed. Year-long lease starts in August but we can be flexible earlier/later for the right fit.
The Apartment: ~1200-sqft ground floor back-of-building unit with a yard that has patio and lawn(ish) areas and multiple large oak trees. Open plan living room and kitchen. Kitchen has granite countertops and stainless steel appliances including a gas stove and dishwasher(!). Lots of windows and laminate (but the classy kind...) flooring throughout the bedrooms and common spaces. Bathroom is tile with separate shower/toilet and sink areas. The bathroom is shared with one other person. We also have a full sized washer and dryer in-unit!
The common areas are furnished (though we are open to changing things up if you have your own stuff) and the kitchen is equipped with necessary appliances/dishes/cutlery/pans/etc. Landlord is fairly hands-off but we have a very responsive handy-man on speed dial. Utilities are ~$50/month/person. Landlord covers water and yard maintenance.
The Housemates: Ashley is a medical student, Ally is a veterinary resident. We are both in our late 20s/early 30s and (in non-COVID times) spend much of our time on campus or otherwise out of the house. While at home we are both fairly relaxed, quiet, and respectful of common spaces. While we definitely aren't the type to throw large parties often, we do have friends/significant others over pretty often and are happy to hangout in the living room/yard together. We are relatively tidy in the common areas but not intense about it ? we help each other out with dishes/chores as needed and are open about communicating our needs. Since COVID we have both been working from home regularly and will likely continue through the end of the year.
Also in the home are two medium-large senior dogs and a small cat. All are friendly and open to cuddling but may also try to steal your food, so our ideal roommate would be very pet-savvy. Unfortunately we can't take any more pets.
What we are looking for: Ideally we'd like to live with a like-minded/chill young professional/post-doc/grad student who loves our pets and can handle the things that come with living with them (fur, the inability to leave food on counters, unconditional love). You should be financially stable, kind, and have a firm belief in science and wearing masks for the greater good. We are very open to and supportive of all genders/races/identities.
