You'll be getting the sole bedroom in a one-bedroom apartment, although functionally it's a two-bedroom because I've converted the living room into a second bedroom, where I live. So you won't have access to the living room, which will be walled off with an 8-foot tall room divider. What you will have is a big room, with a queen sized bed, a good AC, a ton of closet space, a cabinet with many drawers, a small alcove in which you can fit a desk if you choose to put one in, two windows that allow plenty of daylight, and an overhead fan.
As far as location, you'll have the luxury of being steps away from the 7 train, which leaves you about 17-20 minutes from Midtown Manhattan. You'll also be steps away from a lively bar and restaurant scene, be it on Queens Blvd, Skillman, Green Point or Roosevelt Ave. Not to mention a short walk away from Astoria, Woodside and Long Island City. I regularly walk to my Astoria-based job myself.
What I'm looking for from a roommate is someone respectful and considerate. Quiet, cleans up after themself and responsible. Can also engage in the occasional chit-chat and maybe even down to hang out once in a while.
As for myself, I've lived in Sunnyside for the last 8 1/2 years and am extremely blessed to have lasted so long in the heart of Queens. I've lived with six people over the course of my time in Sunnyside and have always prided myself on being a reliable roommate. I'm responsible, conscientious and respectful of my roommates' space and needs and expect the same in return. I'm currently bartending while working on getting my small business started and am very motivated and serious at this point in my life. That said, I have no pets, significant other or family and am all about my work at the moment. What this means is that I seldom socialize or hang out (hardly drink and don't smoke) and am content to just hole up in my room and work on some project or another. You can expect me to be very quiet and otherwise friendly and accessible. I'm very outgoing and easy to talk to and get along with but will not tolerate certain common sense violations such as: loud, blasting music at any hours of the day/night, uncleanliness (e. g., neglect of cleaning one's dishes), smoking and tardiness with rent. If we're gonna commit to making this work we've got to be aligned on these very basic codes of etiquette. For my part, I will do my best to be accommodating and considerate of your needs as well.
