Hello Apartment Hunters,
Room for rent in beautiful Astoria.
The Apartment:
Great location – quiet and safe residential block which is 5 – 7 minutes walk from 30th Avenue N/W subway stop. 1 - 2 minutes to Q69 bus stop. 10 minutes to the M60 bus stop (this is the bus to LaGuardia airport).
Close to lots of laundromats, restaurants, bars and supermarkets. Also near Astoria Park with an outdoor running track and a great view of Manhattan.
The apartment is a bit on the older side but is very solid - clean and critter free with a very responsive landlord. If you’re looking for modern, luxury vibes this may not be the place for you but if you appreciate cosy then you’re going to like it here!
The Roommate:
You'll be sharing the apartment with one Irish male (myself), I’m in my thirties and a full time professional that works from home. When I’m not working my activities including reading, watching TV (presently loving House of the Dragon!), stand-up comedy (Dave Chappelle, Bill Burr) and of course appreciating a good whiskey/bourbon. I’ve lived in this apartment for quite a while and historically the vibe here is clean, quiet, and easy going. I want to keep that going and that means finding the right roommate,
The Room:
The room for rent is 100 sqft of floor space plus a built-in closet not counted in the measurement. It gets terrific daylight and handily fits a full or queen size bed and desk. The room will be rented to you unfurnished.
Rent and Bills:
The rent will be $950 a month (not including bills) and is available now. I may not fill it right away - I’m more concerned with getting the right fit then filling it fast. Both first month's rent and deposit are required to move in ($1,900 total). 30 days notice on the first of the month is required upon moving out. Rent is paid to the landlord.
The Bills are ConEd and Spectrum Internet which will be divided evenly between you and I.
Preferences in a roommate:
- Male or Female
- 20s or 30s
- Pleasant. Wants to be in a roommate situation. No bedroom hermits.
- Full time employed and can demonstrate this with an employer reference. May consider a responsible postgraduate student.
- Friendly personality. Someone who appreciates a drink, but isn’t going to bring the party home.
- If you smoke you'll have to smoke outside (landlord's rule)
- No couples - occasional (once a week) overnight guests are cool, but we have all heard the horror stories about the unofficial roommates.
- No Drugs, No Drama.
- No pets either (another landlord rule)
- Pays rent and bills on time.
I hope to socialise with the new roommate – grab a beer, watch a movie, play a board game, that sort of thing. We don’t have to be best friends, but a positive vibe in the apartment is important to me – this is my home and I'd rather the roommate relationship be more than a series of brief conversations about bills etc.
Thanks for reading my advertisement. If you're interested please shoot me an email. If you'd like to jump to head of the pack please include some stuff about yourself and what you're looking for in a living situation, please mention what your favorite movie is so I know you've read the full posting.
