Hello! I am a lawyer currently living with one of my best friends from law school in a comfortable 2BR in Sutton Place. I have to move away approximately 1 month before our 1-year lease ends for a work opportunity. I will be relocating in mid to late August. My BR will be available beginning ~August 29, and our lease goes through September 30. Dates are flexible, and we can definitely work something out if necessary.
Despite being in midtown, our building is quiet and in a quiet neighborhood, on a quiet street. Our neighbors are mostly older people. The building has an elevator and in-building laundry in the basement. We are just blocks away from plenty of subway and bus lines, including the M15, NQR, 456, and E. We also live on the same block as a Morton Williams grocery store and just one block away from Whole Foods. Central Park is also a really convenient 10-minute walk away. We have never had any pest issues at our place, and we tend to keep the apartment quite tidy and clean.
The apartment is a full 2BR. We have 1 bath, a full kitchen with a dining/breakfast nook, & a living room. There is no central air, but we currently have window units installed in our bedrooms (and, of course, there are radiators for heating). Our windows do not face the street, which makes it an especially quiet apartment right in the heart of midtown.
The room available for rent is the smaller BR, and rent is $1600/month. I am able to comfortably fit a queen bed, a full dresser, and a clothing rack in my bedroom. The coat closet in the living room is also available to the occupant of my BR. We are flexible on what to do with my bedroom furniture--if you need to use my bed/dresser, I can leave it for you and pick it up once the lease expires. Or I can clear my furniture out when I move out.
Utilities/internet are not included. The bills come in my roommate's name, and she usually venmo requests me each month. High-speed Wifi is already obviously set up
My roommate is a lawyer at a big law firm. She is originally from California. She's friendly, but also extremely considerate and respectful of personal space, and I have absolutely loved living with her. She likes yoga, cooking, TV/movies, and pop culture. We are ideally looking for a similarly-aged (late 20s-30s) professional woman, but are flexible.
Given the current situation with COVID and the likelihood that you will be spending a lot of time with my current roommate, we would love to have a phone conversation/video chat before we decide whether to move forward.
My roommate will most likely want to move out once the lease expires at the end of September 2020 (because she wants to live by herself--not necessarily because anything is wrong with the apartment), but nothing is set in stone. The subletter could, of course, apply to take over the lease in case my roommate would like to move out.
Please reach out via e-mail if you are interested, and we can continue discussing!
