THE SPACE: The apartment is a large 2 bedroom. There is a large living room with a couch, an expandable dining table, and a 70 inch TV (Netflix, Hulu, HBO go, amazon, and an Xbox 360 with a full Rock Band set). You would be taking over the large bedroom, with 3 large street-facing windows that let in lots of sunlight. The room can easily fit a king-size bed, a desk, and more. The living room and kitchen are fully furnished but the bedroom is not. The kitchen has lots of counter space and a new stove. There is bike storage and a washer dryer in the basement? but you will most likely do laundry at the full laundromat on the ground floor of the building. Utilities (electric and internet) are 65 or less a month. The unit is part of the affordable housing system and is rent-stabilized.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD: There are lots of hip restaurants and bars within a few blocks. The Edge, Hexagon Lounge and Ponty Bistro are some of my favorites. City College and St. Nicholas Park/Hamilton Grange (Alexander Hamilton?s house, which is now a national park site) are right up the hill. It?s a very family-friendly neighborhood so it is super safe. The block itself has everything you need: a laundromat, a dry cleaner, Chinese food, Dominican food, a deli/ bodega, a grocery store, a hair braiding salon, and a hardware store. We are close to the 2, 3, A, C, D, and B subway lines, so getting anywhere in the city is quick and easy. There are two nearby shopping hubs: 125th Street and the Bronx Terminal Mall.
WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR IN A ROOMMATE:
-I would like a roommate that would like to become friends and not just a presence in each other?s space.
-A working professional.
-Respectful of the shared spaces and will help keep them tidy.
-They will need to be okay with people coming over occasionally for hangouts and get-togethers. That goes both ways so invite your friends over too.
-Someone that is ok with being quiet after around 11 pm on weeknights so both of us can have a good night?s sleep.
-a plus would be someone that would like to join me in binge-watching tv shows, trying restaurants and bars in the neighborhood, and Rock Band (the video game) jamming.
-Respectful of my private space and belongings. Again, this goes both ways.
-The lease ends in 8 months I am looking for someone that signs on as a Roommate for that time and then co-sign the lease with me in August 2020. In order to be a co-lease holder, you will need a 700+ credit score.
