• BOTH ROOMS FOR JUST ONE PERSON--YOU! The furnished bedroom is the larger of two good-sized sunny rooms on the lower floor of a duplex that has a full-sized bed, secretary/dresser, 2 bookcases, end table and lamp, mirror on the wall, and 2 lovely vintage chairs, with the major plus of a large walk-in closet with ample storage above. You can use the mostly unfurnished second room as a study, home office, music room (acoustic only)...it has a comfy swivel desk chair. I've included pictures of the empty bedroom in case you prefer it unfurnished.
• SHARED KITCHEN/DINING AREA is separated by a hallway. My bedroom is on the top floor, at the other end of the apt. We have access to the unfinished roof. Birds sing in the trees you see from every window!
• YOU are a woman with a stable income, are financially and personally responsible, are mature, mid-twenties plus or at least in grad school, don't smoke, do drugs or drink a lot. Like me, you’re easy-going (although I’m serious about recycling!), friendly, open, and good-humored. You are hopefully looking for a long-term home.
• I’M a composer with a day job, which I do remotely from my room. I’m by nature a homebody (I watch a lot of TV ;) English is my native language, but I'm fluent in Spanish. I'm the mother of a grown-up who lives in Brooklyn.
• PETS: I have a scaredy cat that never leaves my room, and isn't very vocal. But if you’re allergic, don't like cats or already have a pet, it wouldn't work out.
• IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD: There are laundromats, a dry cleaner, local pharmacies, a supermarket, Chinese & Dominican food and good pizza within 2 blocks; Starbucks, chain pharmacies, banks, and many more cafes and restaurants within a couple more blocks. Riverbank State Park, offering swimming and skating year-round, and the free Jackie Robinson outdoor City pool are also very close by (useful knowledge eventually...)
• GREAT TRANSPORTATION
1 ½ blocks from A/B/C/D on a tree-lined street
A & D are an 11-minute ride to Columbus Circle; 14 minutes to Times Sq.
4 blocks from 1 train
Citibike docking station on our block
It’s easy to hail a black car or a cab
• CONVENIENT TO COLLEGES
8 blocks from City College
2 stops on the 1 from Manhattan School of Music; 3 from Columbia
Straight shot on express to NYU and CUNY Grad school
• UTILITIES: We split electricity and high-speed internet; heat and hot water are included.
• BRASS TACKS: I require one month’s deposit. The lease lasts one year, at which point it's renewable on an annual basis.
• TO COME SEE IT: Please tell me about yourself in your email. Make sure to mention any deal breakers, and remember to include your phone number!
Thanks!
