Room in 2BD, 1BA Apt in Jersey City (Grove St.)

I live in a 2BD, 1BA apartment in Jersey City and am looking for a new roommate after my roommate of 3 years just moved to Maryland for a new job. I do a lot of personal travel, as I enjoy learning about different cultures, trying new experiences, and practicing my photography. Board gaming is one of my favorite hobbies, so it would be great to have a roommate to game with! I generally like movies, books, and shows that fall into the fantasy, action, or sci-fi genres. I love listening and singing along to music, especially oldies, but I like a lot of different stuff.

The apartment is only a 7-minute walk to the PATH train at Grove St, so it's very convenient for commuting to midtown Manhattan, the Financial District, and Newark. There are many restaurants, bars, and shops in the area, with a library, Citi Bike station, and small park within one block. The enormous Liberty State Park is also quite easily accessible, just about a 10-15 minute walk down the street, or better yet, a short bike ride away. It?s great for runners and cyclists, and the views of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and the New York skyline along the boardwalk are fantastic.

The apartment is very quiet, as it's a top-floor unit with no other units on the same floor and the building is not on a major road. The landlord lives on the ground floor of the building, keeps to himself and is very chill, and is very responsive to any issues or questions. The apartment is in a four-story brownstone building that was completely renovated about 5 years ago. The landlord really did a nice job with the place, including a full-size washer and dryer in each unit, hardwood floors, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and even going so far as to have a separate central air unit in each apartment.

One bedroom in the apartment is available now, so the move-in date is flexible, though I'm looking to rent it by June 1 for a 1-year lease term. Your portion would be $1400 per month, which includes all utilities (gas, electric, Internet, etc.). The place is partially furnished, with couches, end tables, dining room table and chairs, kitchen supplies, and other household necessities that you are welcome to use. I?ve been in this apartment since 2015, and this is the first time the landlord is raising the rent, so he?s very reasonable! Utilities are ready on day 1, as they are already in my name, so you don't have to worry about any of that.

I cook most of my meals, and I like to keep a clean apartment. I don't mind having guests over occasionally, but I do expect us to ask each other beforehand. I rarely drink, but I don't mind if you do, as long as you don't bring the party home. I prefer open communication with a roommate; I want us both to feel comfortable bringing up any issues so that we can work together to resolve them.
