The PLACE:
The house is only a few blocks away from H street: restaurants, nightlife, fitness, etc.
Union Market, Gallaudet University, and NoMa are about 15 minutes away. The house is about a 22 minute walk from the NoMa metro station. Union Station is a bus ride (or the streetcar) away. There are bus stops in the neighborhood and on H street which go downtown DC. Bikeshare spots are in the area as well.
The room is located in the upstairs area of the house. Shared bathroom with two other roommates.
The PRICE:
Rent is about $745 (year lease) a month and the water bill is usually additional $20-$25. Utilities (gas, electricity, & internet) vary, but are usually between $50-$70 per person. There is a security deposit and background check. The room is unfurnished. The house is a good size and comes equipped with a washer/dryer, window ac, microwave, oven, refrigerator(s), and shared living room space, bathroom, and kitchen equipment.
The PEOPLE:
We're 3 men in our 30s, who have pretty independent busy schedules but still enjoyed each others company during downtime.
-Roommate 1 is a Filipino-American who has been in the DC area for the past 6 years. Hailing from Hampton Roads, VA (and before that, San Diego -thanks, US Navy) he originally came to the District as an Americorps member. When he's not leading computer classes locally, he's either at some random acting gig, writing plays / sketches, or gaming (tabletop and video). Liberal / Progressive Catholic. Chaotic Good alignment.
-Roommate 2 is a sound engineer for a theater company in the DC area. Originally from Baltimore. He enjoys beer, video games, gardening and music.
-Roommate 3 grew up in NC, but ran away as soon as he was old enough. Pretends to hate talking about himself, but loves to write bios. Works at a nonprofit. Enjoys live music, books about people who read books, and dancing to songs without a beat. Also a former AmeriCorps volunteer.
Availability starts in October.
The END
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to live in DC at a reasonable price. We all get along well and hang out when we can, but also respect each others' space. The house is definitely not a 24/7 party spot and we like to keep clean. If you fit that vibe and pay rent on time, you'll get along fine with and maybe even like us. Former AmeriCorp and PeaceCorps members encouraged. LGBTQ+ friendly
If you're interested, send us a reply with some basic information about yourself (age, occupation, hobbies/dislikes, describe what type of person you like to live with, how pandemic effected you). We will arrange a time to view the room and house virtually. No pets.
