The available room

Hi! We have an open room in our 3-bedroom Prospect Heights duplex. The lease is for one year, and the move-in date would be 9/1.

About the apartment

Private and newly renovated building with the apartment on the first floor of a five-floor walkup. The building is on a residential block, and the apartment is at the rear of the building, so it is very quiet. Central AC & Heat. Scenic views from the accessible 5th-floor rooftop.

There are two floors, three bedrooms, two living rooms, 1.5 bathrooms, with a large private two-level outdoor space that includes outdoor seating, a grill, and (a soon-to-be-set-up) firepit. The common areas of the apartment are fully furnished.

1st Floor: 2 medium to large-sized private bedrooms, one living room (leather couch, dining table), the kitchen, one full bathroom (shower, toilet, sink), and a washer and dryer. Beautiful balcony overlooking the outdoor space.

Downstairs (2nd floor): 1 private bedroom (private entrance from the building, private half bathroom with sink/toilet), one living room (large couch/convertible pull out queen-sized sofa bed, flat screen TV, with a door that directly leads to the bottom level of the private outdoor space).

The room

Your bedroom would be on the first floor, across from Daria's. There are floor to ceiling windows that look out onto our backyard area. It comfortably fits a full-sized bed, desk, and chest of drawers. You also have a closet.

The location

Located on a beautiful, safe, and quiet street with a first-floor entrance, intercom, and private digital passcode entry.

10-minute walk to any subway station/line (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, A, B, C, Q, G) that will take you anywhere in Manhattan in 11-20 minutes (depending on where in Manhattan you're going).

Conveniently located only two blocks away from Franklin Avenue and some of the city's highest-rated and most up and coming restaurants and bars.

Within walking distance to some of Brooklyn's finest, including Prospect Park, Brooklyn Museum, Botanical Gardens, and Barclay's Center.

About us

You will be living with two roommates, Daria and Nick, and a 9-year-old Golden Retriever named Mickey.

We are in our late 20's/early 30's. We both work a lot and are pretty lowkey when we are home. We don't have big parties at the apartment but are friendly and enjoy spending time together. We take turns buying communal supplies and Venmo each other.

Daria: I'm a law student interested in civil rights litigation. In my free time, I enjoy running, listening to podcasts, and cooking. Huge politics nerd.

Nick: I'm a young professional who has been working in business development for the last five years. Born and raised in NYC, college at Tufts, and then back to NYC. I consider myself a pretty laid-back person (think neat but not a neat freak). Diehard NYC sports fan. All food.

Mickey is a sweet, goofy, lovable dog. He loves all people and is very well trained and low-key. Please obviously be comfortable with if not a big dog fan.

About you

We are looking for someone easy-going, who wants the apartment to be a peaceful place to come home to. No need to be a neat freak, but you should keep common areas clean. No cigarettes inside, please.

Requirements

Rent: $1220/month plus utilities
Payable upfront for lease (to be paid directly to the landlord): First month's rent and a 1-month security deposit.
Good credit score.
Proof of income over 40x the monthly rent OR guarantors welcome!
