*** Available May 1st: A small, inexpensive room in a large, two-floor apartment in Park Slope, flanked by the F/G and R lines, as well as several green spaces, shops, bars and community gardens. ***
The Room:
Cozy, to be generous. Underground, no windows, but clean, properly ventilated, and quiet. It's 10' x 8'6", so room enough for a full-sized bed and a wardrobe or desk. A good fit for someone who gets their natural light fix outside the house and wants a good night's sleep. The apartment has ample common space outside the room for doing non-sleeping things. (Outgoing roommate is willing to leave the wardrobe and bed if you need it)
The Apartment:
The apartment is 2 floors, featuring 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 1 kitchen. Big enough where we can all stay out of each other's way or comfortably share space. Much less ancient or slapdash than any other place I've lived in Brooklyn: solid electrical system, fast internet, actually working ventilation fans in bathrooms and kitchen.
The Amenities:
- washer and dryer
- shared office/workshop (desk space, tools, etc)
- lounge/parlor area with a bar, bookcase, bike parking, and electric fireplace
- TV/film/game room with couches, a projector screen, sound system, and beverage/snack fridge
- backyard with some nice trees, garden space, a large table, grill, strong WiFi, and a hammock
- nice kitchen with many, many appliances: ice cream maker, crockpot, sous vide, food processor, etc
- basement storage space and freezer
The Area:
A short walk from Prospect Park in case you’re a runner/health goth. About the same distance to Greenwood Cemetery, in case you’re a regular goth. Seventh Avenue features a wide range of shops, bars, restaurants and even a literal candy shop. The area is generally quiet, safe and easily accessible to a variety of public transit options. Several community gardens nearby.
The Roommates:
Three people in their thirties with daytime jobs. All somewhere in the tech/maker/fixer venn diagram. We're friendly but pretty independent of one another. Seeking same. You must be willing to be covid-conscious and communicative about risk factors related to that. (We're 2/3 vaccinated right now) We keep late night quiet hours in shared spaces so as not to get on each other's nerves.
The Rent:
Rent is $718 a month, with the first month's rent and a security deposit of $840 required upon move-in. Month-to-month but ideally you'd be looking to stay for a year or more. Heating is electrical. Electricity and internet paid separately, approximately $100/month on average.
