The rooms are in the rear of a 3-family home in Flatbush Brooklyn, and tend to be quiet. The home was built in 1910 and many original details have been restored including pine wood floors, exposed brick walls, antique door plates, glass door knobs, and a patterned tin ceiling.

This charming space just had a fabulous kitchen makeover. It has a new gold-veined granite stone countertop, shaker kitchen cabinets with a full length pantry for brooms, a porcelain tile floor in a wood look and a Travertine Italian stone backsplash.

The kitchen door opens onto a back porch with stairs that descend to a charming garden with a cherry blossom tree, a blue-stone path, Adirondack chairs, and a small brick deck with a grill.

Unit is available June 1st, or possibly sooner.

The rooms include FOUR closets. Two closets in the room, and two locked private closets in the unit hallway. One is a large walk-in closet under the stairs.

Bathroom and kitchen are shared with a friendly, easy-going woman who eats organic. Large refrigerator is fairly new and there’s a gas stove for cooking. Keep the back door open for a view of the garden as you cook. Ceiling fans in the hall, kitchen and bedroom increase cross ventilation.

House is on a green block full of trees and award-winning flower beds, with decorative flower boxes in front of the houses. The block also won the first ever sustainability award from the Greenest Block in Brooklyn contest. Neighbors are friendly, supportive and diverse. There is a real sense of community with an active block association and people helping each other out and swapping supplies. Last year the block received a $5,000 grant to start vegetable gardens in people’s back yards. Neighbors came and built raised beds for us and helped us select vegetables. This year we are looking to grow kale, strawberries, sweet potatoes, arugula, collards, cauliflower, beets and fresh herbs including basil, cilantro, thyme and mint. You are welcome to help with the garden and share in the harvest.

Prospect Park is a 15 minute bike-ride away, and there is a lovely community garden just a 5 minute walk away. There are health food stores in the neighborhood. There's a nearby spot that was rated the #1 jerk chicken joint in Brooklyn. Several laundromats are within easy walking distance.

The house is near loads of public transportation. Three quick blocks to the 2 and 5 trains which go to downtown Brooklyn and most major Manhattan locations. Two quick blocks to the 35 and 44 buses. You can also take the 35 bus to the Church Avenue Q and B Express trains.

We own the building and live on the 2nd floor. We are easily available for any repairs or problems. Since we live here as well, we make sure that the house is well-maintained. We do our best to respond promptly and politely to anything that comes up.

We work in journalism, politics, comic books and publishing, and are looking for someone relaxed and considerate to be a member of our community.

Utilities are $100/month, which include heat, hot water, gas, and electricity.

All tenants have to agree in writing to the house rules and pest policy, which are designed for everyone's safety and well-being.

Rent will be paid to the owners on a monthly basis.

My wife and I own the home, We live here and also work from home. Our work is in publishing, the arts and journalism.

There is a wonderful block association that we belong to and the neighborhood has a strong sense of community.
