Bright bedroom in Brooklyn available! Roommates--

Hi everyone!

My name is Zeli and I am an adjunct instructor & writer living in South Brooklyn with my partner Paul. The apartment is a “true 2 bedroom” (perhaps one of the last of its kind in Brooklyn for this price range!) and we are seeking to meet a roommate to come live with us.
Move in: April 1st.
The bedroom is $775, utilities included (including wifi/internet!).
I do ask for a security deposit when you move in. (Can be flexible if you need to pay this over the course of 2 or 3 months).
Free full size mattress if you should want it! (Sadly, the bedframe in the pictures is not available).

The apartment is just two blocks from the D express train and about a 10 to 12 minute walk from the N express train. The neighborhood is a bit hard to define but I think of it as the nexus between Bensonhurst, Dyker Heights, and Bath Beach. Definitely some very conservative, cahtolic, & Italian communities around here!! This said, there are also many wonderful Central American, East Asian, and Middle Eastern immigrant communities that make this area worth it. The block we live on is pretty tranquil (you can hear the church bells from Our Lady of Guadalupe catholic church every hour) and the neighbors in the building are quite pleasant for the most part. The apartment is on the top floor of a 4 story walk-up. Unfortunately the building is not accessible for people with some disabilities.

I have lived in this apartment for almost a decade now. I moved into this home when I was 20 and I am now 28 (can’t believe it!).... Paul and I are spending the month repainting the bedrooms, living room, and bathroom. We are also going to organize each room and do a deep clean before you move in! You can probably tell from the tape on the walls in these pics, that we are in the process of taking care of these renovations! Going to re-decorate the place very soon. Laundry in the basement of the building. Sadly, no pets (fish & rodents are fine!) allowed in the building!

Paul and I are pretty laid back, “go with the flow,” kind of people when it comes to roommates. This said, we do ask that we all work together to keep the place as clean and habitable as possible. We are totally alright with visitors--- we will have visitors from time to time--- but we are hoping for each of us to keep visits to a minimum for the next few months until the pandemic starts to smooth over (knock on wood!). And-- in general-- communication is key! I like to converse every now and then & would love to chat and/or drink wine with you from time to time but you are also more than welcome to kind of just cordially coexist with us! We are open to whatever you're comfortable with in that respect.

Other things to know about us: We are big cooking people (I cook Sicilian food, Paul cooks everything)! We drink wine and smoke hookah but we do not have parties at home (maybe like once every year or two!). We are an LGBTQ+ and interracial (Black & white) couple. I am transfeminine (she/they pronouns--- but I’m very tolerant of ppl who are learning to use my pronouns!). We just ask that whoever moves in be sensitive toward/supportive of LGBTQ+ safety and racial justice.
