Room available in great Bushwick spot!

Ad ref# 102147892

RENT: $1,133 a month, plus utilities (elec and $30/mo for Gigabit internet)

MOVE IN: DECEMBER 1! We may be able to accommodate a mid month move in but no later!

LEASE: We would ideally like someone who can take over our previous roommates lease (until 09/30/22) and requires stable income and good credit score, but are open to subleasing if it’s a good fit.

SPECS: The available room is in the front of the apartment, with floor to ceiling glass sliding doors that lead to the front roof deck, which is shared with the living room. The closet is only ½ so you may need a dresser/bureau if you have more than 5 items of clothing, but there’s some good storage space on the upper shelves. All rooms (including the living room) have split unit ACs/Heaters which as any New Yawka knows is a blessing! The front roofdeck is shared, and is also used partly as my workspace (during the spring/summer we will convert it into a prime hangout spot with a table and chairs, but for now it is mostly used to store bikes and ongoing art projects).

THE DEN (of the creature variety, not the “boomer-era man” variety):
We live in a 3bed 2bath 4th floor “penthouse” (don’t you love realtor-speak?) walkup in (get ready for more realtor speak) “PRIME BUSHWICK”. That said, those annoying catchphrases in this case are actually accurate, as the apartment is blocks from Maria Hernandez park just a few shakes from what we affectionately refer to as “the boppin district”. We’re about 10m from the L Morgan Ave stop if you commute.

The apartment comes with our own private front deck with entrances from the front (available) room, and the living room, IN UNIT WASHER AND DRYER(!!!!!), fancy new appliances, and two FULL bathrooms, one with a bidet we installed bc we were feeling fancy. We also have access to a rooftop with excellent views of the manhattan skyline.

The common areas are furnished with LED strip lights, hanging plants and shelves, and Halloween decor. It’s well decorated already but we also want someone who isn’t afraid to bring their own unique style to the place. We don’t want you to feel like a visitor in “our” home, but rather an active collaborative influence on the aesthetic here.

PREFERENCES:
We have everything we need here already with a few small gaps. We could REALLY use a proper couch, as we currently only own a small futon couch. If you contribute a couch (bonus if you also have a nice coffee table or any storage type furniture/bookshelves), we would be eternally grateful. Beyond that, expect everything to be provided!

We are respectful, reasonable, and communicative people, who get along well with all types, but ourselves are hard partying but socially aware and conscientious folk, and would get along best with similar individuals. This would also be an ideal living situation for someone who wants to live in a nice apartment but travels a lot.

NON-NEGOTIABLES:
No bigots. No exceptions.
You must be communicative. We are not mind readers! If something bothers you, TELL US. If you have a request (like quiet hours for an early morning commute) or a complaint (we’re being too loud and it’s late) SAY SO! We want you to feel safe and comfortable here, but you have to be transparent about your needs and wants in order for us to accommodate them.

DENIZENS:

F: Feral but friendly, mixed media artist, obsessive researcher, hip-hop head, and horror movie buff. I keep an odd sleep schedule, am frequently bringing home plants and street finds, and pride myself on renovating and transforming street detritus (especially old furniture) into works of art or practical pieces. By mixed media artist I mean EVERYTHING. I am a builder, a designer, low-key taxidermist and bone collector, resin artist, you name it. As such, don’t be alarmed if you see an occasional pot of bones soaking in the sink, or some supplies sitting out on a table. I try to keep my work confined to my room and we keep common areas clean and tidy but there’s always the odd thing. THERE ARE NO EXITS FROM MR. BONES WILD RIDE so buckle up!

N: 30 y/o ambivert dude currently studying for a career change to software development. Interests include history, global politics, philosophy, travel, and house/techno music.

CREATURES:
We are currently fostering a cat, and plan to adopt one once the foster returns to his original owner. We may be amenable to a cat or a small, well-behaved, hypoallergenic dog but would need to meet them first.

REPLIES:
I know this was a long post but to know you’ve read and agree to our terms, please respond with your age, name, pronouns, profession, favourite music, and a hobby you engage in!
We are ready to show the apartment ASAP!
