Location:
The apartment is 2 blocks from the Throop Avenue stop on the C line. Alternatively, you can also walk .5 miles to the Nostrand A/C stop, which if you take an express A train from ? is only 4 stops and you?re in downtown Manhattan. The neighbourhood is wonderful, with lots of trees, cafes, and schools. It?s fairly easy to access downtown Brooklyn, Prospect Park, and north Brooklyn too.
The room:
The room has high ceilings, two closets one medium and the other quite large. With an additional storage space above each closet. The room currently has a full bed, with a dresser, desk, and mirror, which can be removed if you prefer.
The apartment itself is quite large. We have a HUGE living room with great natural lighting from many windows in the room. Pre-war building has original wooden floors throughout. Kitchen has a gas stove. One bathroom, which features both toilet and shower. .
The shared spaces are fully furnished, but we?re open to any things that you?d want to contribute to these spaces, whether in addition to or in place of what we already have.
Nightlife & stores:
Bedstuy has a really great history, and there is a ton of culture in the area. You can find tons of little stores, murals, bars, and street vendors. Places you might know nearby are Bed-Vyne, Warude, Tepache, Saraghina, and Peaches. Rest assured ... there is a great coffee shop right around the corner!!
Also, right outside "Super Foodtown" (a great large supermarket 7 min walk away) the city has set up a black lives mural and shut down the street to traffic. Its actually really great, the community gathers here on the weekend. with live music & other events now happeneing there on a regular basis.
Outdoor activities:
We?re .9 miles from a small but very well taken care of park, Herbert Von King. There are always people with their dogs and families, the dogs I like the most! It's a ten minute walk from the house.
Prospect park is a 45 minute walk away, or you can get there really quick on a bus or bike. Here you will find a museum, botanical garden, and tons of open space. Its a very popular location, with many wealthy areas bordering the greenspace.
Your roommate:
You would be living with my roommate and a small cat. My roommate is a professional artist and musician. He's pretty quiet and keeps to himself.
In regards to staying safe:
We?ve been keeping safe during COVID-19 by following CDC and state guidelines, wearing masks in public, cleaning regularly, and expect you to do the same.
