We have a room available in our house located near downtown Oakland. We are a BIPOC queer and trans house located in Koreatown, a 15 minute walk from BART, 1 minute walk from the bus as well as a grocery store, and about 3 blocks from downtown. Rent is $900/mo (excluding utilities, which is usually around $100 a month), and the security deposit is one month’s rent. First month’s and security deposit due at move-in. We are in quite a busy area but have a private backyard, driveway and porch to hang out on. Our house has two shared common areas, a kitchen and dining room, laundry room, and two bathrooms. The house has six bedrooms total, and currently houses six individuals. We also have two non-human occupants (an adorable baby bunny boy named Opal and a recently adopted transitionally outdoor cat named Howl Cowell).
The room is on the second floor, 124 square feet with a closet and additional storage space available (pictures attached). Lease is month-to-month and we are currently in the process of signing a new lease, so rent may go up an estimated maximum of $100 by the end of the year.
House Culture:
House is drug- and sex-positive (just no smoking inside the house). No zionists. We are all young adults (early to mid 20s) and most of us work with youth/social services/customer-facing jobs and unable to be completely COVID safe due to the nature of our work. We are looking for a housemate who is radically queer, values a clean house, and is invested in the local BIPOC community. We meet monthly to discuss house issues/maintenance, do a deep house clean, and plan parties/get togethers at the house. We are very chill and flexible especially concerning accommodations(most of us are disabled), just value good communication and compassionate understanding 😁 No application (ew), so please PM me a little about yourself (name, occupation/what you do, fun facts, living style, etc) and we can schedule a tour asap.
