Room for Rent to New Housemate Starting Dec. 1st

Sunny mid-size upstairs room in a shared household within a modestly updated home available starting Nov. 15 or any time by Dec. 1 for move in.

Available Room: (Rent $795/month) is an upstairs room measuring 11 x 13 with 5 ft. length closet and one full side of double-paned windows with decent light. Room is 143 sq. ft. Housemate shares upstairs bathroom with 2 other people. An additional bathroom is downstairs too.

We desire to create an uplifting house where we all bring something interesting and new into each other?s lives while being respectful of space. Many of us have been living here for the last couple years. We all care about the house and each other and desire a respectful environment with upfront and open communication. We attempt to make this a home as opposed to just a crash pad. We desire to have a friendly, sociable, fun, engaging, and respectful housemate environment.

-No pets allowed (sorry, some of us have allergies!)
-SECURITY DEPOSIT of $500 and FIRST and LAST month's rent are requested upon acceptance but this is negotiable if financially difficult.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN HOUSEMATES:

-People who can pay rent and utilities on time and are responsible and clean up after themselves; People with a job/internship or in school. Financial stability is a must.
-Looking for a 'home' for the LONGER TERM. 6 MONTHS MINIMUM commitment, and longer is preferred.
-Respect for one another, non-violent and open communication, and respect for the house's common areas. We want someone who wants a HOME, not just a trash/crash pad. We care about the house and hope you will as well. Sharing is caring!
-Sociable and friendly and hope to have an uplifting and positive relationship with one another.
-Someone who likes a party here and there, but this is not a party house. We do have occasional get togethers, and they're always good fun.
-We desire someone who is socially and ecologically conscious, open-minded, spiritual/existential, and likes new adventures etc. If you like the outdoors or D. I.Y. projects that's a plus!

YOUR HOUSEMATES:

We are an eclectic household currently totaling 5 individuals, each with varying interests and schedules. We range in age from 28 to 33 years old (Average ~ 31) with 2 women and 3 men. We're all friendly and occasionally cook and eat together, BBQ, or have a bonfire out back from time to time although lately we've been more on separate schedules. But the desire is to have a friendly, sociable, fun, engaging housemate environment.

There are currently 3 housemates (myself included) in the 4-bedroom upstairs part of the home. I am a 33 years old male and have a degree in environmental studies and work in water conservation. Among us is a late 20's female who works in people operations and talent acquisition, a 30 y. o. male who is an outstanding barber who owns his very own barbershop in Uptown. Our other housemate upstairs departed end of this Oct.

There are 2 other housemates in the downstairs 2 bdrm section of the house. He is in his early 30's and working as a project manager and consultant and for a startup. She is a mid 20s working professional.

THE HOUSE:

Very spacious modestly updated home with clean carpets, hardwood flooring, kitchen tiling, granite countertops, new cabinetry, and nice bathrooms. The house is furnished with 7 sofas, a dining table, chairs, and coffee tables etc. and many kitchen items. Rooms are spacious and all have curtains and/or blinds.

Features a huge kitchen with stainless steel appliances (dishwasher, garbage disposal, gas range and oven, giant microwave oven, toaster oven, toaster, etc.) and a dining room and living room with lovely afternoon sun. Shared bathrooms with plenty of space and shelving, and bathtub/shower.

COMMON SPACE:

There's quite a lot of it that is shared amongst all housemates, one benefit of this great place.
- FREE On-site laundry room with new high-efficiency washer and dryer
-Bonus are downstairs for work, play, art, and chill space w/ sofa and desk plus additional storage.

BACKYARD:

Medium sized backyard measuring 21.5 x 34 feet. Covered patio area with full gas grill for BBQs, a firepit for relaxing with friends, and a separate planting area to soon be a vegetable garden.

LOCATION:

The house borders Northwest Oakland/Emeryville/West Oakland, by Macaurthur Bart, so it's important to be aware of the neighborhood. Many grow to love it, but it's not for everyone. I highly recommend familiarizing yourself with the area and encourage you to check out the surrounding neighborhoods. The area has grown on all of us and its close proximity to everything and diversity is something we like.

Conveniently located at the West Oakland/Emeryville border near main hubs of activity, including MacArthur BART, freeways and public transit. Traffic is not very heavy and there's plenty of off street parking - you'll never have to walk more than half a block. Biking or driving, everything in the area is close and convenient.

SHARED UTILITIES

Fixed utilities for water, trash, recycling, compost, cable internet (up to 150 mbps!!!) at $40 per month per housemate. Separate PG&E bill to be split evenly among all housemates and paid on time monthly w/rent. This also includes access to free laundry, and Norton internet security software if you need it. We also all have several shared TV services like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, HBO GO, etc.
