ISO:Room to rent for queer couple

We are both 42 years old. I am disabled, autistic, and trans. My partner is a lesbian and identifies more on the non-binary side of gender identity although she is still figuring that out. We have been together for 9 and a half years. We have been homeless for the last 2 ½ years and are currently living in a hotel in Beaverton, having just moved back from San Francisco were we were also living in a different hotel for the past 6 months.
We’ve got horrible credit and our rental history is shot with an eviction that will be 3 years old in April of this year. We know we’ve screwed up and are just trying to start over and honestly we need help to get there. We have gotten so much better at taking care of our financial commitments. We pay for the room here before anything else, we’ve successfully kept our storage unit paid and cricket phone lines.

I am on SSDI/SSI while my partner in on unemployment at the moment having lost her job back in November due to COVID. She is looking for a new position as a CAD Drafter but doesn’t have a huge amount of prospects right now since it is mainly a construction based occupation and construction is kind of on the back burner right now again due to COVID.

We can afford around $1,000 a month if it includes utilities, although we can make anything work because I am signed up to work through the GIG economy and can go work DoorDash, PostMates or something similar on my Segway scooter if needed to make up the difference. We just need a bit more stability.

We are totally open to short term sublets or a month to month arrangement to see if we are a working fit. We have no problems or issues with moving back out and into a hotel if for any reason it doesn’t work out, we would just need enough notice to be able to pay for the room after the months rent we pay to you.

Our two small service dogs are a chihuahua/cocker spaniel mix (Abby) and a toy chihuahua (Fido). We do have paperwork for them. They are completely housebroken and don’t make much of a fuss. Abby has skin cancer and I don’t think she will be with us much longer so I’m just trying to make her as happy and comfortable as possible.

We come with some awesome kitchen appliances like a Keurig K-Café machine and a Ninja Foodi XL Oven. I’m a great cook and love to make awesome food and meals for my friends and loved ones (which I don’t have much of). We do not smoke cigarettes and would really prefer to not live anywhere near another smoker (since we are actually ex-smokers we really don’t want to be around the smell or smoke anymore)

I know I’m asking a lot from strangers. And I’ve also been beyond surprised and amazed at the community here in helping out. We are both white but also very aware of the privilege we possess in navigating through this world and are working to be as anti-racist as possible. Please call us out on our mistakes! We welcome it and want you to because we HAVE to learn to be better!!!!
