Librarian & cat looking for new home!

Ad ref# 101088052

I'm a 40+ single woman, currently working part-time as a librarian at both a college in Boston and at the SPL (and looking for full-time work as well), looking for either a studio, a 1BD apartment, or a spot in someone's home/roommates (or even someone to look for a place with together) for $900/month or less, hopefully before May 1. Since I don't have a car (I don't even know how to drive, to be honest), I need to be within walking distance of public transit. I've lived in my current place since November 2001, and am only moving right now because the landlords are increasing the rent far beyond what I can afford, and would like their son to move in as well, so I'm looking for a long-term solution where I can put down roots.

I'm friendly, funny, reasonably clean, responsible, a non-smoker (I'm actually allergic to tobacco), have a reference from my landlord and one from Tom Champion (he used to work for the City of Somerville & did robocalls for them; I cat-sit for him and his wife), and have a number of interests (medieval re-creation, historic costume, sewing, baking, music, researching whatever I'm currently into). I don't expect any roommates to be my best friend, but I do value having a good relationship with them, and would like the idea of occasionally having meals together, going out to an event, etc. if they're interested. (I'm still friends with roommates from 30 years ago, FWIW.) I don't smoke, hardly ever drink, don't do drugs, and am LGBTQ+ friendly. I do have one cat, with no plans to get anymore. Romeo is an approximately 10-year-old polydactyl (mitten paws/Boston cat) neutered brown tabby who's very shy until he gets to know you well, is normally well-behaved, and is very much a mama's boy. I don't know how well he would get along with other cats; with patience it could work out, but I'm not 100% sure, so I just want to be upfront about that.

PS: One more thing: I love to bake, even though I now have celiac and everything is gluten-free, so any roommates or nearby landlords would have the opportunity of getting some of my baked goods along the way, especially my extremely popular--and total legal in all 50 states--double chocolate espresso brownies, much beloved of many musicians. Bon Appetit!

Please let me know if you'd like to meet up for coffee to see how we hit it off, and take it from there, OK?
