Looking for room or apartment near UC Berkeley

My name is Alex (British, 26, male). I will be coming to Berkeley at the end of October 2018 to start as a postdoctoral researcher in the chemistry department at UC Berkeley. I will be here for one year (with the possibility of extending) and hope to find a place to stay for the entire duration.

I am looking for a room or apartment in the general vicinity of the UC Berkeley campus. I have lived in rented housing with others for the past 7 years, so I know and respect the responsibilities this entails.
I am quite clean and tidy (not a neat freak), rarely drink (and generally prefer not to), and will only spend the early mornings and late evenings in the apartment. I am friendly and conscientious too.
