Couple Looking for a Room/ Apartment or Detached

Hello!
We are a full-time working couple looking for a place to stay for a few months while we get on our feet. I am a graphic designer and my fiance is a navy veteran who just graduated from nursing school and is working fulltime while he studies to take the state exam. We are looking to rent a room, apartment, or detached backhouse (in-law suite) for a few months. Our budget is a bit tight at the moment and we are looking to rent something between $500-$975/mo. (there may be a little more wiggle room if the place is a good fit) We would prefer something with a private entrance and bathroom, and off-street parking...on site laundry would be a big bonus too... but it would not be a deal-breaker if some of these amenities are not available. We are quiet, clean, and mostly keep to ourselves and we would prefer to live with someone who is similar. If you would like any more info about us, please feel free to ask!
