Room with activist/musician and cat!
Available Jan 1 is one room in a 2 bedroom apartment on the second floor. $825/month + utilities (gas, electric, and internet) that averages about $70. Size is about 8x12, plus a large (3x5 1/2) closet with built-in shelves.
LOCATION: Sterling Place near Buffalo Ave. Walking distance to 3, 4, and C trains. This is the east end of Crown Heights, a very Caribbean working-class neighborhood. There are plenty of community gardens and stores with bulk herbs and very cheap clothing. You'll do best here if you really value and appreciate the neighborhood.
Cat: Tyvele ("ty-vul-a") is a big, impatient, mischievous, affectionate furball! He actually loves belly rubs.
Me: woman, dedicated activist and musician in my early 40's who volunteers for nonprofit from home and otherwise plays music, rescues food, and goes to protests. I'm vegan and have a well-stocked kitchen.
You: Woman or trans ONLY, have lived in roommate situations before, have a steady income or resource base, and keep very clean. This is for one person only. Must be cool with a honking bari sax or a loud drum set from time to time. We will sign a roommate agreement as well. Pets: No dogs are allowed by the landlord, but if you have a very playful cat, that would be awesome because his current playmate will be moving out! Or if you just love playing with cats, that's cool, too. :) At least 2-3 references are needed and will be contacted.
Email me with your phone number, and explain who you are, what your situation is, and why this place appeals to you. Looking forward to meeting you!
