Room w/ internal pvt bath in 2br/2.5ba sunny home

Room available in a 3-level townhouse with 2 master bedrooms (i. e., with a full bath attached to each room) on the top floor. My current housemate’s job is moving so they’re leaving the area, and I’m hoping to find a new housemate who is equally awesome! The room is available for October 1 move-in.

The bedrooms are about equal in size, yours is about 12x12 not counting the decent-sized closet. The room is big enough for a large bed and some other small furniture. Hardwood floors. There is an en-suite bathroom (you don’t have to leave the bedroom) with a good-sized shower. Utilities are included except PG&E, which we split. My 55” TV is set up in the living room with Netflix and an assortment of apps, and I’m open to you adding if there’s something you can’t live without. The house is professionally cleaned monthly.

The middle floor has a living room and dining area, a kitchen with new appliances (including dishwasher, which I use regularly), and 2 small balconies for grilling or gardening and for setting up a cross-breeze. The ground floor has a bonus room/living area, a half-bath, and washer and dryer. The house is furnished except for your room, so you can just show up! You’d start with first month’s rent plus 1.5 months’ rent as a security deposit. The building is in a small community of attached houses, which share a nice little backyard with a grill area that’s open for use. I haven’t had any home security issues, but I have a monitored alarm system just to be safe. There’s a decent amount of street parking. It’s very walkable to downtown Oakland—about 15 minutes from the 19th Street BART station (or about a 5-minute bike ride) and Fox Theater (for when theaters are a thing again), lots of downtown food and bars, and a gym with climbing wall. It’s close to entrances to both the 80/Bay Bridge and the 980/South Bay/Berkeley/etc. It’s on a street with a bike lane. They’re putting in new condos across the street.

I’m a mid-30s professional, and I work normal to long hours. I mostly don’t work from home, so you could. I’m friendly, active, pretty quiet, and clean (but not freakishly so). I like to cook and have friends over for a meal or a movie. I take care of my stuff, and I’m happy to share as long as you do, too, so I ask for common courtesy in that respect. If I use dishes and have to run out and leave them in the sink, that’s cool, but I’ll try to clean up sometime the same day. I’m used to having housemates and I like chatting about our days and having a glass of wine, but I enjoy alone time, too.
