Furnished Private Room & Bath In Oakland Hills

Seeking a single mature, responsible tenant to share our four-bedroom, one-story home in the scenic, quiet southeastern Oakland Hills (above the Oakland Zoo).

We have a comfortable, fully-furnished 185 sq. ft. bedroom with a queen-size bed, couch, large dresser, two large closets and private bath (shower, sink, and commode) available for rent. The room is located in the front of the house and away from the other bedrooms. The rest of the home's shared space includes a large, book-lined living room with working fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, and a dining room overlooking the landscaped back yard and garden areas. Bed linens and towels are also provided.

Downtown Oakland and San Leandro are each less than 15 minutes away by car, and the San Leandro or Coliseum BART stations are also about a 12 to 15-minute drive. There is plenty of on-street parking, and having a car is recommended (bus service is limited to workdays, and not very frequent).

There are also great hiking trails throughout more than 100,000 acres of East Bay wilderness area within walking distance of the neighborhood, all with easy access and breath-taking views... ideal for someone who enjoys long walks or bike rides in the East Bay hills.

We're a relaxed, easy-going older couple (in our early 60s... yikes, when did that happen?) with an extremely well-trained nine-year-old dog, Cassie. We love to work in our garden, and listen to music. Friends and family may stop by from time to time, but otherwise we lead a pretty quiet life. We're looking for someone who leads a similar lifestyle.

The rent is $1,200/month plus a security deposit equal to one month's rent, all required at move-in. Utilities (gas, solar/electric, water, garbage), HD cable TV and high-speed wireless Internet are all included in the monthly rent. Please be prepared to offer proof of income (or your academic status if you're a student).
