Echo Park hideaway

Hi! We live in a 1921 duplex in historic Echo Park. We live upstairs, and we reserve our big, sunny front room with private bath for a chill, compatible roommate.

The silent-movie era in Hollywood was born right here 100 years ago, and today the neighborhood is still an awesome colony of artists, USC students, and professionals who work downtown. (DTLA is literally just down the street.) Great shops, restaurants, and coffee bars are all around. Organic food is easy to find. So are great meals from tacos to pho. Major museums, hip clubs, top exercise studios, mountains, desert, and beaches are all nearby.

What you can expect at your new house:

YOUR ROOM:
Approx 275 sq ft, furnished with a super-comfy queen bed and soft linens, a desk and ergonomic desk chair, a little bistro table and chairs for your morning coffee. Covered rack for your hanging clothes, a big dresser with mirror.

WONDERFUL VIEW from a row of big windows, overlooking the rooftops and palm trees of Echo Park, all the way west past Century City to Santa Monica. GORGEOUS BIG SUNSETS and always a breeze.

FULL PRIVATE BATH with shower and tub.

WASHER-DRYER in alcove leading to your bath.
Washer-dryer is shared -- we do our laundry on a regular schedule so you get your privacy and we get our clean jeans. ;-).

SHARED KITCHEN. You also have a mini-fridge and microwave in your own space.

WIFI AND DIRECTV HOOKUP INCLUDED. (You bring your TV.)

ABOUT US: We're both nationally published writers, both working on creative projects. Rita teaches memoir to private clients. Anne runs an arts nonprofit geared to cancer survivors.

OUR DOWNSTAIRS TENANTS: A nice family with kids who play baseball. They are good neighbors and we all give each other space.

PARKING is STREET PARKING.

HOUSE RULES:
We're sober, and sober roommates are a plus, but moderate drinking is cool -- we ask that you keep alcohol in your space. No cigarettes please.

No overnight guests please. No loud noise before 7am or after 10pm.

NO PETS please. That's because we already have two dogs, a standard poodle and a golden-retriever mix. They're friendly and not too sheddy -- but they're not invited to your space.

NO BAD CREDIT PLEASE. We will run a credit check.

DO YOU HAVE DIY SKILLS? We're always upgrading our 100-year-old house and we love good advice.
