Hello, sadly, my awesome roommate has moved to Hong Kong (please see testimonial below) so I am in search of a roommate as of JUNE 22 or later for a private room in the downstairs of my modern duplex apartment (includes private bathroom, Full Murphy Bed with extremely comfortable new mattress, TV with premium cable and air conditioning) on the Upper East Side, near 4, 5, 6 & Q Trains AND 2nd Avenue Bus lines. The room is extremely quiet and comes with a private bathroom with Jacuzzi, large closet, large dresser, new recliner chair and also a garden with barbecue, shared kitchen and living room. The rent is $1500 per month and INCLUDES utilities (electric/gas and AND premium cable/Wi Fi). Must be cat friendly (though he will never be in your space unless you'd like him to be). Must be responsible, respectful, clean and quiet. Would require you show proof of employment/income and credit check/references. First and last month's rent required. Hi! I'm the current roommate! Unfortunately, after over a year in this lovely space, I have to leave... but I just wanted to leave an honest review of my time here. Daphne is a terrific flatmate -- she's super funny, super caring, but also non-intrusive... and is also a great cook (which was especially handy for me, because I don't even know how to fry an egg properly)! Decker, her cat, is so adorable. I've never been a cat person, but Decker's totally stolen my heart. He's so handsome and loves cuddles (and treats). Don't worry though if you're not into cats -- he only ever comes down to my room when I physically carry him down there and leave him with no other choice but to hang out with me! The room itself is wonderful -- I honestly spend 90% of my day in the bathtub: it is so long and deep, and I can relax in there for hours without realising that I'm turning into a prune. The bed is super comfortable, and the TV is ginormous and has more channels than I know what to do with -- never a dull moment! Though I personally didn't make full use of the backyard (I'm not a nature person!), Daphne throws great BBQs every now and again, and it's a terrific atmosphere with fresh air and lots of space to hang around.
