Cozy Room in Charming House walk to Ferry to NYC

Dear potential housemate,

This is a housemate (share) situation in Staten Island, 10 minute walk from the ferry (free, runs 24/7). Your commute to Downtown Manhattan from the ferry is about 30 minutes, to midtown is about an hour during rush hour.

Costs to you:

Your rent for the room would be $700 a month, or $750 furnished. All utilities are included (utilities are usually another $200). Very high speed internet is included, so is a washer/dryer. Fios TV is available for an extra $25 month.

About the home:
Our home on 21 Egmont Place is a spacious, artisitic co-op style house, or house share situation. We are at the end of a short dead end street next to a large lot filled with trees. The house is surrounded by trees on three of its four faces.

There are two bathrooms shared by five people, but our schedules are such that there is never a wait to use it and the bathrooms are kept very clean. We all share in the cleaning, but there is no mandated schedule for that and things seem to work out pretty well. The kitchen is very large, with two dining tables in the adjoining and adjacent to it, with lots of cabinetry and shelves, two fridges, dishwasher.

Facilities include a modern kitchen, washer and dryer, a large furnished front porch, outdoor grill, a large stone firepit, several gardens, a peaceful secluded balcony on the second floor, back patio, side yard. Yard is fenced in if you want to bring a small dog.

The Room:

The room measures about 12 ft by 15 ft, with ceilings about 12 feet high. There is a fairly deep closet and there are two windows. We have installed large shelves, med-high and high. There are two windows that let in lots of light. The room is warm in the winter due to it's size and cool in the summer, because it's situated under a giant oak tree. Located on the second floor, down the book lined hall from a shared bathroom opposite the balcony,

Housemate Living:

The atmosphere is professional, quiet, and laid back. It is a drug and smoke free house indoors. Occasional smoking is fine on the porch or balcony, but for heavy or regular smokers will need to use the patio on the side yard. We've cohabitated with professionals and students from the U. S. and abroad, people of all races/ages/gender orientations.
