$950 unfurnished room available in heart of Astoria, off 30th Ave with lots of delis, bars, restaurants, convenience shops and 5-7 minute walk to the 30th Avenue N/Q subway stop (you're in midtown in like 10-12 minutes once you get on the train!). The M/R Steinway stop is nearby also but it's about a 12-15 minute walk. $950 and just one roommate in the heart of Astoria, this is actually a pretty awesome deal.

The apartment: Building is on the older side, and so the 3rd floor apartment is a bit older as well (as you can see in the pics). But I do my best to keep the place neat/clean but am by no means some kind of clean freak that has to mop/broom every day or anything. Your room (which used to be my room) is on the smaller side but will definitely fit a queen-sized bed and maybe something else (there is a cabinet style closet in there though). I'll address the elephant in the room. Yes, the room I am now in (master bedroom) is bigger so why do I pay the same amount? One, tradition. Two, and more seriously, you will actually be getting more space of the apartment as a whole. There's an area right outside the room that is ALL YOURS and you can put whatever you want there (your room will be non-furnished). We also have a third room, which is really more of a storage room which I only use a portion of. So yes, you can store ALL your stuff there and even has a large closet which you can have most of as well to hang your clothes.

Me - Early 30s single, straight male with steady government/policy job. I get up early and go to the gym or for a run at Astoria Park when I get home. Got a decent social life that gets me out of the apt 2-3 nights a week, and visit my family once or twice a month for a night (the apartment will be all yours!). I generally like to watch sports on TV (Giants/Yankees/Knicks) but have it hooked up to a Chromecast so I can watch HBO Go and/or Netflix as well (yes, I can share if I'm present). I do some light cooking, and by cooking I mean making rice, putting some beef/chicken on a pan, or the oven and occasionally stir fry some veggies.

Utilities - Electricity/gas averages $85 to $110 which we will split, $150-$160 during the summers with A/C. Cable/internet about $120 (we don't have to split 50/50 if you don't need cable). Water/heat included in the rent. I will ask you to put either the internet/cable or electricity/gas in your name and I will put the other on mine so please have decent credit.

You - Preferably male, mid 20s to mid 30s and, of course, steadily Employed (please have paperwork proving employment history for landlord). No couples whatsoever. No pets please (I love dogs but I'm pretty much allergic to all pets, sorry!). Absolutely no smokers (of any kind). Also, please no party animals. I don't care if you bring your friends over on occasion. I'll even have a drink with you guys but please keep it to a minimum. I generally only have them once or twice a week at most. But most importantly, please be able to split cleaning duties/costs with me.

Logistics - You'll need $1900 upfront. First month's rent and security deposit for the owner/landlord. He has given me permission to choose the roommate so there's no agent fee for anyone. I do not "hold" the lease but my name will be renewed on the lease for this coming year starting October 1. However, the previous roommate has pretty much already moved out (and paid out). That essentially means you can move in early and live pretty much for free until the end of September . I'll show the apartment tonight on Monday and also on Wednesday night. Be ready to move in this coming weekend!
